STEAM Station’s Story Begins Here
STEAM Station was created from a lifelong love of working with kids, a passion for learning through play, and a deep appreciation for community.
Meet the Founder
Hi, I’m Robyn! I’ve been caring for and working with children for as long as I can remember.
I started babysitting at age 12 and spent some of my teenage years working at a local museum where I led Girl Scout camp-ins, summer camps, and hands-on educational programs. Those experiences shaped how I think about learning: kids learn best when they’re engaged, moving, and genuinely having fun.
I carried that passion into college, earning a teaching degree in K–12 Deaf Education from UNC–Greensboro. My background in education gave me a strong foundation in child development, inclusive learning, communication, and creating environments where all children feel supported, capable, and welcome.
An Inclusive Play Experience
Then I became a parent.
My son is curious, energetic, and always on the move; and like many kids, he thrives when his body and brain are both engaged.
As a parent, I found myself searching for a space that welcomed kids like him: a place where movement wasn’t discouraged, creativity was the norm, and learning happened naturally through play. When I couldn’t quite find it, the idea for STEAM Station was born.
STEAM Station is designed to be a place where children can move, build, explore, and connect, with each other and with technology, in positive ways.
Our activities blend science, technology, engineering, arts, and math with active play, social interaction, and imagination, creating an environment that’s as fun as it is enriching.
Built for Our Community
I chose Knightdale intentionally. My family and I love the small-town feel, the sense of community, and the way neighbors show up for one another.
STEAM Station isn’t just a play space; it’s meant to be a neighborhood gathering place where families feel known, kids feel included, and birthdays, milestones, and everyday play are celebrated together.
I am so excited to bring this vision to life and can’t wait to welcome your family into the space.
