Educational Shows & Channels for After-Camp Downtime

Why does it seem like the universal calendar for summer camps decided that 3:00 PM is the perfect time to wrap up the day? Meanwhile, the rest of the working world is plugged in until 4:30 or 5:00 PM.

This is our first year experiencing the great summer day camp scramble, and let’s just say it’s been an eye-opening logistical puzzle. While we owe a massive debt of gratitude to the camps that offer after-care, others leave you entirely on your own. So, what exactly do you do with that awkward 1.5-hour gap while you’re trying to cross the finish line of your workday at home?

After a high-energy day of camp, most kids don't want another structured activity; they just want to crash and veg out on the couch. To help you survive the late-afternoon slump, we’ve rounded up some fantastic educational TV shows and YouTube channels. Think of it as brain-nutritious screen time; it gives them the guilt-free space to chill and wind down, while ensuring they’re still absorbing something valuable before the evening routine kicks into high gear.
