STEAM Station Sneak Peek

The wait is over! We finally have a 2D sketch of STEAM Station’s floorplan! Note, Gemini created this sketch version based on our actual architectural plans, but please take this with a grain of salt. There are a few areas that aren’t quite right and a few things that may change, but this should give you a general idea of what to expect as it stands right now.

A Quick STEAM Station Walkthrough

Retail, Reception & Cafe

As soon as you step inside, the excitement starts right in the lobby. To your right sits our curated retail shop; a treasure trove packed with plush stuffies, glowing and light-up wonders, science-themed sweets, tactile squishies, fidgets, creative kits, and take-home STEAM activities to so the inspiration goes with you.

To your left, you’ll head straight to reception to check in for your two-hour play block or celebrate a birthday party.

Just past the desk, our grab-and-go cafe has you covered with refreshing cold drinks (including options for grown-ups!), novelty ice cream treats, and plenty of quick snacks to keep everyone fueled up and ready to move.

Toddler Space

To the left of the cafe sits our dedicated toddler zone. While STEAM Station is engineered primarily for kids ages 5-14+, we know amazing play days are a family affair, and younger siblings need their own space to thrive. Sized just right for ages 2-5, this nook features a hands-on train table, interactive busy boards, and tactile sensory play.

Anchoring the space just above is our scarf cannon wall. If you’ve never experienced one in action, it’s pure kinetic magic: slip a brightly colored chiffon scarf into the intake tube, listen to the rush of air as it zips through transparent pipes, and watch little faces light up as it shoots high into the air and drifts gracefully back to earth. It’s an instant, giggle-inducing favorite for toddlers and big kids alike.

Movement Bays

Directly above the scarf cannon, you’ll step into our two dedicated movement bays, powered by Nex Playground active-gaming systems. Up to four players per bay can jump into the action, moving their whole bodies to track balloons in Keepy Uppy, hit dance beats in Starri, or sink baskets in high-energy sports simulations. Just behind the play zone, stadium seating gives four more spectators a comfy front-row perch to cheer, laugh, and catch the next round.

Party Rooms

Just beyond the main floor are our two flexible party rooms. While they’re built first and foremost for stress-free birthday celebrations, these multipurpose spaces wear plenty of hats. They act as designated lunch rooms for school field trips, pop-up loose-parts play zones on select weekend mornings, and private rental spaces for community meetings, youth groups, and small private events.

Interactive Floor & Racing Station

Right at the heart of our facility, the ground comes alive with our interactive projection floor. Overhead sensors turn every step into gameplay; whether kids are stomping virtual bubbles, scurrying through educational challenges, or testing their agility, it’s an irresistible, motion-packed centerpiece.

Flowing straight from the floor is our dedicated design and racing zone. Picture a streamlined maker table loaded with LEGO and DUPLO bricks, surrounded by track space where young engineers can design, build, and test-drive their wheeled creations. This hub also serves as home base for rotating STEM design challenges that put problem-solving to the test.

White LEGO car

Just below the builder zone, we’ve created a parent lounge with clear sightlines across the center of the room. It’s the ultimate recharge zone to catch up on work, sip a cold drink, or savor a snack in comfort, though for the record, parents are 100% encouraged to jump into the action, too!

Craft Corner

You’ll find the craft corner fully loaded and ready for peak creative chaos (the good kind!). We’ve laid out a mix of recycled staples like cardboard tubes alongside bright cardstock, fluffy pom-poms, vibrant oil pastels, and quick-drying paint sticks. No strict instructions or rigid kits here; just pure freedom for kids (and kids at heart) to dream, build, and create.

Light Challenge

Just above the craft corner, things kick into high gear with the light challenge. In this high-energy sprint, players dart between traffic cones, racing to slap the touch lights the second their team's color illuminates. The catch? One misfire on the wrong color gifts points straight to the competition. When the clock runs out, the team with the highest score walks away with ultimate bragging rights.

Interactive Ball Wall

Next, step up to the interactive ball wall: a towering eight-foot digital arena that turns target practice into a full-body game. Players can kick, throw, or bounce balls directly at the screen, while precision motion sensors track every strike in real time to register direct hits and rack up scores.

It’s not just pure target practice, either; the wall doubles as an active learning lab. Kids can tackle everything from dinosaur trivia and high-seas pirate facts to fast-paced word-matching challenges, combining quick reflexes with sharp problem-solving. If your class is visiting STEAM Station on a field trip, this is where you’ll almost certainly find them teamed up, strategizing, and cheering each other on through a massive group challenge.

Karaoke Room

Rounding out the tour near the top right is the karaoke room. Packed with vibrant LEDs, a lyric-ready screen, a top-tier sound setup, and plush lounge seating, it’s designed to feel like your personal stage. Whether you're belting out high-note power ballads or kicking back on the couch between sets, your inner rockstar has a dedicated home here.

We want to know: what’s your go-to karaoke jam? Check the list to see if it’s one of the top tunes for your age group.

Whether your crew comes to launch scarves through pneumatic tubes, race hand-built LEGO speedsters, dominate the interactive ball wall, or belt out their favorite anthems in the karaoke lounge, STEAM Station was built from the floorboards up to celebrate active curiosity and shared play.

We can’t wait to open the doors in early 2027 and welcome Eastern Wake families into this one-of-a-kind movement and maker hub. Keep an eye out for upcoming opening updates, drop your must-sing karaoke tracks in the comments, and get ready to run, build, and play together soon!
